Super Talent Technology today introduces modules for the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook PC. They come in standard Half Mini PCIe and Double Wide Half Mini PCIe form factors. Both families of products feature a custom IDE/PATA interface used in the Mini 9 netbook.
For the first time ever Mini 9 users can upgrade their netbooks with a high performance 128 GB SSD without any case modifications. We installed the hardware in less than 60 seconds and reinstalled the operating system in less than 30 minutes. We started thinking about how we could better solve our customers’ problems, when we saw them posting videos online sawing their case apart to put in larger SSDs. So we innovated and invented the Double Wide Half Mini PCIe form factor to make upgrading to a high capacity SSD a whole lot easier

In Super Talent’s internal benchmark testing the Super Talent SSDs outperformed the stock SSD in sequential write speed by an impressive 7 to 1, showed a 2x performance gain in sequential read speed, and a 5.4x gain in random write speed. These products are available with both SLC and MLC flash.

  • FEM16GFDL 16 GB Half Mini 2 PCIe SSD MLC - $74.99
  • FEM32GFDL 32 GB Half Mini 2 PCIe SSD MLC - $109.99
  • FDM64GFDL 64 GB Double Wide Half Mini 2 PCIe SSD MLC - $199.99
  • FDM28GFDL 128 GB Double Wide Half Mini 2 PCIe SSD MLC - $379.99

Super Talent will showcase these products at the 2009 Computex Taipei show June 2-6, 2009 at Nangang Exhibition Hall 1st Floor, Booth J610.
Products are available for sale at www.superbiiz.com.

The
IIS team continues to deliver on the promise of the modular pipeline.
One often requested module was URL re-writing, which was released
today.

Install the URL Rewrite Module for IIS 7.0 Go Live today!

Microsoft URL Rewrite Module for IIS 7.0 Go Live (x86)

Microsoft URL Rewrite Module for IIS 7.0 Go Live (x64)

New Features

Here are the features that are new since CTP release (for a complete list of features refer to this article):

·         Support for IIS kernel mode and user mode output caching. IIS
7.0 output caching provides significant performance improvements for
web applications. URL rewrite module is fully compatible with both
types of output caching. This means that it is possible to safely cache
responses for rewritten URL’s and thus boost the performance of web
applications that rely on URL rewriting.

·         Lower case conversion.
A lower case conversion function called “ToLower” can be used within
rewrite rule to convert any rule input string or substitution URL to
lower case.

·         Rule templates.
Rule template is an extension for URL rewrite module user interface,
that simplifies creation of rewrite rules for a particular task.  The
Go Live release of the module includes 3 built-in rule templates, plus
it allows plugging in any number of custom templates.

·         UI for testing of regular expression and wildcard patterns.
A GUI tool for testing rule patterns is included into the module’s user
interface. The tool can be used to quickly check how the regular
expression or wildcard pattern works. Also, it can be used for
troubleshooting and debugging of problems related to pattern matching.

·         UI for managing rewrite rules and rewrite maps. Rewrite rules and rewrite maps can be added, removed and edited by using “URL Rewrite Module” feature in IIS Manager.

SharePoint Administration Toolkit 2.0 is Now Available!

I’m excited to announce that the second version of the Microsoft SharePoint Administration Toolkit is available for download! As I said back in April,
we would be offering regular updates to this toolkit with new features
and functionality for both Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and
Windows SharePoint Services v3.0. With this release we
added functionality to address some of the challenges associated with
running a highly available and/or geographically disperse MOSS 2007
deployment—particularly aimed at synchronizing user profiles in the
Shared Service Provider (SSP). Let’s look at these two areas:

High Availability
In order to provide a highly available Shared Service Provider, your deployment needs two identical SSPs available at all times. While
this is easily done with search (each SSP has its own crawler and can
create their own index)—keeping user profile data in sync is a bit more
involved. You can see detailed instructions on running a highly available environment on
Microsoft TechNet:

Highly Available Architecture Diagram

Geographical Replication
If
your company is geographically disperse, you may not want to have a
single MySite farm serving your users worldwide since some users may
experience significant lag in response times depending on WAN bandwidth
and traffic characteristics. Instead, it may be better to have several SSP farms located around the globe. Just like in the highly available environment, this configuration would require that user profile data is kept in sync.

Since
synchronizing user profiles is something available in the MOSS 2007
product, some of you might wonder what we’ve done in the toolkit! Well,
if you’ve ever tried to use the User Profile web services to achieve
synchronized profiles—you’ve noticed it’s a very involved process with
lots of code (and therefore a lot of room for mistakes). In
this release, we’ve built a supported tool for scheduling partial or
full replications of any number of your user profile attributes:

Profile Replication Engine

TechNet Magazine recently published an overview of the key changes and what you can expect from SQL Server 2008. You can also get a rundown of the various Editions and Components of SQL Server 2008 and take part in SQL Server 2008 Tutorials.

An Overview of SQL Server 2008 installation will help you get started with your deployments.  You can also find guidance for Upgrading to SQL Server 2008 or Migrating to SQL Server 2008.  And if you are upgrading, be sure to check out Using Upgrade Advisor to Prepare For Upgrades.

From the August edition of TechNet Magazine, here are answers to your SQL Server questions, showing you how to perform consistency checks, how to handle an accidental upgrade, and more in the SQL Q&A column.

Finally, you can easily find local partners offering SQL Server 2008 solutions, find training partners near you offering official Microsoft courses on SQL Server 2008, as well as attend local in-person events and online webcasts on SQL Server 2008.

The long wait for SQL Server 2008 is nearly over.

At its Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston on July 9, Bob Kelly, Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Infrastructure Server Marketing, told attendees that SQL Server 2008 will be on the August price list. He said that Microsoft will keep pricing the same for the new release as it is for SQL Server 2005.

Microsoft released the near-final Release Candidate (RC) 0 test build of SQL Server 2008 in early June.

Microsoft officially “launched” SQL Server 2008 in February, alongside Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Server 2008. Earlier this year, Microsoft officials said they were planning to deliver SQL Server 2008 by mid-2008. Company officials changed their guidance a couple of months ago, noting that Microsoft was planning to deliver the final SQL Server 2008 release in the third calendar quarter of 2008.

The Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 Training Kit includes presentations, hands-on labs, and demos. This content is designed to help you learn how to utilize the Visual Studio 2008 features and a variety of framework technologies including: LINQ, C# 3.0, Visual Basic 9, WCF, WF, WPF, ASP.NET AJAX, VSTO, CardSpace, SilverLight, Mobile and Application Lifecycle Management.
